This is how we grow

Pillars of Growth

  • Responsibility- Our students learn responsibility by routinely feeding and watering the goats and chickens.

  • Teamwork- As young farmers, students learn how to work as a group to complete big projects.

  • Work ethic- Every program there are tasks that need to be completed. Positively reinforcing the work that students do around the farm helps them to build confidence that they can do anything they put their mind to.

  • Accountability- We teach accountability by paying attention to the attendance of our students at school and at program. By persistent conversation about attendance, students learn the importance of showing up.

  • Social growth- Students practice social skills by interacting with their peers, staff, and members of the community. We assist students as they learn to grow by reminding them to make eye contact, clearly speak, and to use their manners.

  • Sustainable living- Students learn how to live sustainably by working in the garden and raising crops that they will reap the benefits of.

  • Respect- Students learn to be respectful towards not only themselves; but peers, adults, and authority figures.

  • Personal growth- Students learn personal growth by setting goals, combining all of these tools listed, and applying them to their everyday lives. As a student works through an issue, we talk them through alternative ways to handle adverse situations.
